Hello Friends,
My name is Kristy Marrow, and I’m the founder of New Leases on Life. This organization was inspired by my personal journey—a path marked by struggle, healing, and transformation.
My academic journey began at the University of La Verne, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science with a minor in Ethnic Studies. Although receiving my diploma felt empowering, I realized it was just the beginning. I was driven by a desire to truly understand people and to give back in a meaningful way.
In 2016, I continued my studies at San Bernardino Valley College, earning a certificate in Drug and Alcohol Studies. I learned about addiction from textbooks, first-hand accounts, and my own experiences. While interning at the Salvation Army in San Bernardino, I also completed a 40-hour Domestic Violence training at the YWCA in Covina, becoming certified to support survivors. Soon after, I trained with “A Window Between Worlds” to become a facilitator, helping address trauma through art workshops and support groups.
Throughout this time, I volunteered at shelters, answered crisis hotlines, and stood alongside women enduring the very hardships I had faced myself. I also understood that breaking the cycle of violence means understanding every perspective. That’s why I completed a 40-hour course at Homeboy Industries to gain insight into batterer intervention—not to excuse harmful behavior, but to seek the underlying causes.
From these experiences, New Leases on Life emerged—a place of refuge, healing, and empowerment. Our organization serves men and women affected by domestic violence, those experiencing mental health challenges, victims of substance abuse, individuals facing homelessness, and anyone needing guidance to rebuild their lives.
In May 2021, I graduated from (CBU) Cal Baptist University of Riverside with my Master’s degree in Social Work. Then, in December of 2021, I became a pre-licensed therapist, working to become a (LCSW) Licensed Clinical Social Worker. We are combining education, experience, and compassion to expand our services. We are building programs that offer both immediate support and long-term resources to provide hope for individuals and families in crisis.
This work is not just my calling; it is the very heartbeat of who I am. Every program we develop, every life we touch, and every story of transformation fuels my passion to serve even more.
What began as my personal journey of healing has grown into a mission that reaches far beyond myself — a movement of compassion, empowerment, and lasting change. Together with your support and the dedication of our incredible team, we are not only meeting immediate needs but also planting seeds of hope, resilience, and opportunity for a brighter future.
Each act of kindness, each volunteer hour, and each donation helps restore dignity, rebuild lives, and strengthen the fabric of our community. When we stand together, we are more than an organization; we are a lifeline for those who need it most, and a testament to what is possible when hearts unite in service.
Thank you for joining us on this journey.
With gratitude and hope,
Kristy Marrow
